A constitution is a basic set of rules for the daily running of your club. It is a legal document that establishes the organisation, sets out the purposes for which it has come together, includes the rules under which it proposes to operate and sets out members rights and liabilities.

A strategic plan is a document that is designed to give the organisation some direction in the short to mid-term (2-4 years). It takes into account the internal strengths and weakness plus the external opportunities and threats to the organisation, and details strategies to address and build on these.

Being able to generate income through sources other than registration fees is critical to the health and long term survival of a club and remains one of the most challenging aspects for club administrators and volunteers.

Sponsorship is a mutually beneficial business relationship between two parties, the business (sponsor) and the club (sponsored).

Sponsorship is much more than a sign at a park or a logo on a shirt. Sponsorship provides business access, connections, hospitality, affinity, audience access, data and helps to shape public perception for a sponsor. Businesses and clubs working together can create a broader reach and shared objectives, multiplying the resources they have and leveraging the combined power of the relationship.

  • Australian Sports Commission (ASC) - The ASC Australian Government agency responsible for supporting and investing in sport. The ASC comprises; Sport Australia — responsible for driving the broader sport sector including participation, supporting activities linked to sport and sport industry growth, and the Australian Institute of Sport (AIS) — leading our high-performance sport system.
  • Sports Community - Sports Community provides training and knowledge, both in person and online, to clubs and their volunteers. They also offer consulting services to peak sporting bodies and local councils.
  • Good Sports - Good Sports is Australia’s largest community health sports program. It has been helping build strong community sporting clubs across Australia for over 20 years. Designed for busy sports clubs, Good Sports takes the guess work out of complying with legal requirements and gives you the upper hand when it comes to attracting funding, new members and volunteers.
  • Play by the Rules - Provides information, resources, tools and free online training for administrators, coaches, officials, players and parents to deal with discrimination, harassment, child safety, inclusion and integrity issues in sport. Play by the Rules is a unique collaboration between Sport Integrity Australia, Sport Australia, Australian Human Rights Commission, all state and territory departments of sport and recreation, all state and territory anti-discrimination and human rights agencies, the Office of the Children’s Guardian (NSW) and the Anti-Discrimination Board of NSW.
  • Beyond the Club podcast - Beyond the Club is co-hosted by former cricketer and coach-turned-journalist Ben Hook, alongside Dr Sam Elliott, researcher and lecturer in youth sport at Flinders University. The podcast aims to support community sporting clubs with solutions to the many challenges experienced within community sport by administration, volunteers, coaches, parents, umpires and players.
