Hundreds of sporting and active recreation clubs across South Australia are set to receive a funding boost through the State Government’s Active Club Program (ACP).

Almost $1.3 million will be distributed to 503 recipients, supporting clubs in further developing the programs and services they provide within their community.

More than 44% of clubs funded in this year’s program are based in regional or outer metropolitan areas, with the remaining located in metropolitan SA.

Recipient clubs can use funding on a variety of projects – ranging from new sporting equipment, professional development for coaches and staff, medical training and club promotion.

Additionally, funds can be used to help break down barriers that can impact female participation in sport – with clubs able to provide period products, flexible uniform offerings and menstrual health training and resources.

Clubs with 100 or more members will receive $3,000, while those with 20 – 99 members will receive $1,500.

The full list of ACP grant recipients is available here.

Quotes attributable to Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Katrine Hildyard

The State Government appreciates the important role that local clubs play at the heart of their communities and is committed to supporting them to provide the best possible services and programs in ways that include people and help get them active.

Sport and recreation plays such an important role in communities across our state with local clubs creating a strong sense of belonging and improving participants’ physical, mental and emotional health and wellbeing.

I am so pleased that this funding will help give South Australians more opportunities to access quality recreation and sport activities and enjoy the many benefits this brings.
