COMMITTEE COMPOSITION IN THE YEAR ENDING 30 JUNE 2022
The Boxing and Martial Arts Advisory Committee (the Committee) is established pursuant to Section 4 of the Boxing and Martial Arts Act 2000 (the Act) by the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing until 31 December 2022. The Committee considers various issues pertaining to combat sports and provides expert advice and recommendations to the Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing.
The Committee currently comprises eight individuals from various backgrounds with expertise in the boxing and martial arts sector, law and medicine, as follows:

Report on significant consultations or contact with the sector
The Agency completed the following industry engagements with the boxing and martial arts sector for its review and feedback on:
- Proposed minimum standards and guidelines to be applied to the sector. This included phone consultations with promoters, trainers and athletes, with a secondary engagement conducted at several gyms across Adelaide.
- The current medical forms to ensure they are simple for medical practitioners to understand and complete.
- Whether interclub sparring sessions or competitions are:
- Regularly occurring in South Australia
- How they are conducted for the Agency to assess whether they meet the definition of a public event under the legislation and whether they pose a risk to the health and safety of contestants.
