Subject to approval through the State Commission Assessment Panel and Minister for Planning, works will soon commence at the Mile End Sports Precinct (north) for construction of the National Centre for Sports Aerodynamics (NCSA). The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing (ORSR) has been actively working with Athletics SA, SA Masters, SA Little Athletics Association, SA Athletic League and City-Bay to understand key user activity, and how to minimise the impact of construction.

From Tuesday 14 February 2023, the proposed site (image below) will undergo construction mobilisation, including the erection of temporary fencing and builders compound. Construction works will only commence once approval is granted. From February, training and competition for throwing activities that are impacted by the development (shot put, discus, hammer throw) will occur in the Main Stadium under instruction from the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing. During the athletics off-season, whilst works occur to reinstate the equipment, the northern precinct will be closed with the exception of the 110m warm up track.

For further information, or general enquiries – please contact the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing at ORSR.saathleticsstadium@sa.gov.au
