The official launch took place on Friday 19 March and was an evening full of activities to encourage physical, social and mental wellness.

The event saw 250+ attendees take part in community driven activities, including:

• Basketball sessions run by the Aboriginal Basketball Academy
• Netball goal shooting run by Netball SA and the Central Districts Netball Club
• Classic Catches run by SACA and the Adelaide Strikers
• Rock Climbing
• Zumba

The launch saw kids taking catches that the Strikers' own Alex Carey would have been proud of.

Kids were also having a ball, shooting goals with the Aboriginal Basketball Academy and Netball SA.

But it wasn’t just kids having all the fun, with adults partaking in a public Zumba fitness class to encourage everyone to practice physical activity.

The Playford Wellbeing Hub has been developed in partnership with the City of Playford, Wellbeing SA, Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing, Department of Human Services and other state government agencies under the Wellbeing SA Statewide Wellbeing Strategy.

The new wellbeing hub aligns to the Office of Recreation, Sport and Racing’s initiative Game On: Getting South Australia moving.

Game On was released in June 2020 and is the SA Government’s plan to make our state the most active state in Australia.

Game On encourages purposeful activity every day. If South Australians are more physically active every day, this will lead to a flow on of positivity in people’s lives, their communities and the surrounding environments.

Through better coordination between whole-of-government and the communities that play an enabling role in movement and play, Game On will reverse the levels of poor physical activity and increase movement opportunities across the state, leading to stronger outcomes in community wellbeing, livability and economic productivity.
