Advice from the community and stakeholders will be sought through the YourSAy website, inviting locals in the area to read the draft Master Plan and answer questions about sports facilities, recreational activities and environmental features.

Minister for Recreation, Sport and Racing Corey Wingard said the plan had been developed with the vision to transform the Park into a thriving precinct which can host sports from grassroots through to elite level.

“It’s so important for the community to be involved, so I’d encourage anyone who lives in the area or has an interest in the future of sport in this state to get involved.”

“The Marshall Government, together with the Australian Institute of Sport have already invested in two exciting State Sports Park future developments.

“The new State Centre of Football ($19 million) and upgrades to the Super-Drome ($10.55 million) including the addition of the National Centre for Sports Aerodynamics will be fantastic and it'll be great to see the park developed to its full potential.

“South Australia continues to lead the way in the sport and recreation industry and these world-class facilities are set to commence construction in 2021,” the Minister said.

Building upon these projects and the State Hockey Centre, the Adelaide Super-Drome (home of the Australian Olympic Cycling Team) and the arboretum-style Foresters Forest, stage 1 of the draft Master Plan shows new sport and recreation facilities, roads, pedestrian/cycle ways and development guidelines.

The final stage of the Master Plan will incorporate feedback and ideas for the entire Park and be used for investment and funding purposes for further development.
