$26 million invested
The State Centre of Football is the new home of Football SA (FSA) and includes a 5,000-spectator stadium and FIFA compliant grass show pitch. Two additional full-sized artificial pitches and 10 five-aside artificial pitches complement the main arena and all pitches are lit.
The facility accommodates international and national events, as well as local competition, participation and training. It will be used as a training ground by the Young Matildas ahead of the 2023 FIFA Women’s World Cup.
Additional new features include:
- 200-car carpark
- FSA administrative and corporate facilities
- Gym
- Public café
- New intersection with Briens Road
- New road with footpaths and street trees
The project responded to a growing demand for football facilities (particularly in the northern suburbs) and a rise in young women’s football participation.
This project forms part of the State Sports Park development and is integrated with Roma Mitchell Secondary College and the Croatian Sports Centre.
Planned future stages include:
- Indoor 5-aside centre (3 pitches)
- Additional full-size pitch (artificial turf)
- Extension of Matildas Drive
