Six new 38 metre LED sports lighting towers have been installed at the SA Athletics Stadium.

Six new 38 metre LED sports lighting towers have been installed at the SA Athletics Stadium, giving the venue more opportunities to host National/State Athletics and football (soccer) events.

The $2.3 million upgrade was funded by the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing and delivered in conjunction with the Department for Planning, Transport and Infrastructure and CME Sports Lighting.

The build commenced in October 2019 and was completed February 2020.

A number of athletics events have been held under the new lights including the State Track and Field Championships. The SA Little Athletics championships will also utilise the lights at their event to be held this weekend (14 - 15 March).

The first National Premier League SA football game was played under lights at the stadium on Friday 6 March, with the Adelaide Comets (the home team) defeating Cumberland United, 1-0. NPL SA games are live streamed on YouTube.
