On 23 September 2026, the Greyhound Industry Reform Inspector (GIRI) Mr Sal Perna AM, handed his final report to the State Government.

The report says it is satisfied with the greyhound racing industry’s overall progress in implementing the reforms detailed in the Independent Inquiry into the Governance of the Greyhound Racing Industry in South Australia.

The report makes two key recommendations; that greyhound racing continues to operate in South Australia; and that greater oversight of animal welfare and integrity issues is required.
