African Nations Cup sat to grow next year

African Nations Cup

The 2013 African Nations Cup, held on 19 and 20 October in the City of Salisbury, showcased some incredible football talent and generated plenty of excitement and interest in next year's event.

Ten communities took part in the event, which took place at the Burton Football Complex.

Teams through to the semifinals were: South Sudan; Sierra Leone; Sudan; and Burundi.

South Sudan and Burundi played the final. The match was a tight contest, resulting in South Sudan 2, Burundi 1. Both teams played exciting football and the grandstand was at capacity with many people standing around the field.

The runner up medals and trophy were presented to Burundi by Michael Carter the CEO of the FFSA.  Mabok Marial Chairperson  African Communities Council SA presented the winning team with their medals and the 2013 African Nations Cup.

The event was a collaboration between the Football Federation of South Australia (FFSA), African Communities Council SA, the Office for Recreation and Sport and the City of Salisbury.

Communities are already talking about registering for the 2014 event.
