Floodlighting promises a feast of footy
Gloomy… dim… dull… dingy…
They’re just a few of the words you can no longer use to describe the footballers – and the football – at the West Gambier Footy Club!
Let us explain…
For a fair while there, the lighting at Malseed Park – the home of the WGFC – was substandard (or, to be more blunt, poor!). Safety was an issue. The inadequacy of the old lighting was also a turnoff for prospective players and members.
Thankfully those days are gone: at a cost of $48,500 Malseed Park now has new, better floodlighting with the Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing contributing $25,000 with a grant under Round 43 of the Active Club Program.
Power bills have been cut because of the new lights’ improved technology, and more juniors and families are joining up.
Night time juniors games are also now possible, which means more revenue for the club too.
No wonder the football – and the footballers - are now all bright… dazzling… and brilliant!
