New, improved canteen wows the sports crowd

The food situation has just got a whole lot better at a popular Whyalla sports club!

No longer do the dedicated volunteers from the Weeroona Bay Football and Sporting Club have to prepare the club’s canteen food in sub-standard facilities: they now have a spick and span, totally upgraded, $30,000 kitchen and canteen.

There’s: hot and cold running water… a sink that’s now connected to the sewer… new appliances… upgraded wiring to handle the load from those new appliances… new stainless steel benches (easy to clean)… aaaaand…. a whole lot of happy volunteers!

The Office for Recreation and Sport contributed almost $15,000 with a grant under the Active Club Program.

The improved amenities have made working in the canteen much easier, and the added appliances have enabled the canteen workers to broaden the menu.

The Weeroona Bay Club is happy to point out it’s not the only group benefitting from the change: the Whyalla Junior Soccer Association, which uses the ground too, is also reaping the rewards!
