Netballers thrilled with ‘new’ old courts

Jervois netballers are jumping for joy – and doing so safely – following major improvements to their courts complex.

The courts in the Lower Murray township, just about opposite Tailem Bend, have undergone a $54,000 upgrade to ensure they’re in absolutely tip-top shape:

  • The courts themselves have been resurfaced and relined
  • Cement edging has been installed to protect the asphalt surface and provide a path around the courts
  • A fence railing has been installed
  • Fresh turf has been laid to replace and improve the area affected by all the works.

The Office for Recreation and Sport was a big contributor, handing over a $25,000 grant under Round 41 of the Active Club Program.

Recently the home-team Jervois Bluds Netball Club hosted the local association netball grand final, giving it a perfect opportunity to show off the improvements.

The verdict (from locals and visitors alike)? They’re a winner!

The courts are also getting a solid workout from Jervois’ tennis players, who agree the new surfaces are much safer for players, and the new set-up safer and more comfortable for spectators too.

(The Bluds are hoping the redevelopment will help their bank balance as well, by bringing in more players and members!)
