“Yankalilla sports venue now officially catering for everyone”
he Yankalilla Memorial Park and its seven member clubs can breathe a sigh of relief: at long last the venue provides for everyone – from people with disabilities, to parents and babies, and female umpires.
For a fair while now the YMP and its member clubs – hockey, netball, cricket, football, tennis, bowls and golf – have recognised the need for a toilet and bathroom area at the Park that’s suitable for people with disabilities.
With the help of a $12,500 grant from ORS (under its Active Club Program), the Memorial Park now has it.
The facility includes a shower and baby change facility, and also gives female umpires and officials somewhere to change, plus suitable toilet and shower facilities. It’s hoped this will help attract more female umps and officials, including to the numerous other community groups that use the Park (e.g. the local darts club, Yankalilla Probus Club, and the Yankalilla and District Lions Club).
