Lobethal’s cricketers loving new, deluxe net facilities
When the Lobethal Cricket Club ‘renovates’, it doesn’t do things by halves!
For years its players managed to hone their skills on three half-pitches squeezed onto the edge of the cricket oval. It wasn’t much fun, and at times could even be a bit hazardous.
Enough was enough.
With help from the Office for Recreation and Sport (a $14,000 grant* under Round 41 of the Active Club Program), the LCC has installed four perfectly flat, perfectly impressive full-length training pitches on the hill overlooking the oval.
Safer, better, and heaps more fun to use.
The club says player morale and performances have improved, and the new nets are a win for the local footy team too; no longer will the footballers have to cope with an uneven playing surface, pockmarked with bowlers’ run-up footmarks, at the edge of the oval.
*Total cost - $48,000. SACA and local sponsors made up the difference.
