Automatic irrigation system = big savings for golf club

You can imagine the joy at the Berri Golf Club after its new irrigation system was installed…

Greg Norman was barely out of short pants - and Karrie Webb still in nappies – when the last system was put in! (Hint: we’re talking more than 40 years ago.)

That meant: the old system was not only aged, but couldn’t be operated automatically… which meant watering had to be done during the day… which meant the electricity to power it cost more… which meant players out for a few holes were also inconvenienced.

Now it’s a whole lot better: the new $46,000 irrigation system (ORS contributed $15,000 under its Active Club Program) can be set to switch on automatically at night. There’s less evaporation, the electricity’s cheaper, and there’s no disruption to work and play on the course.
