Cyclists get a preview of art trail

Cyclists have had a sneak preview of the soon-to-be completed Adelaide City Bike Art Trail.

Guided tours were given on Sunday 30 June 2013 to give people a first chance to look at some of the new artwork adorning Adelaide’s city cycle trails and pathways.

Eleven works from five artists are expected to be installed in the CBD and North Adelaide during the next few weeks.

These include large scale sculptural works, which either sit alongside or incorporate a public bike rack, forming a unique cycling art trail through the CBD and North Adelaide.

The works respond to the different environments adding extra elements of interest to each location and serve as independent tour markers along the bicycle trail.

The Adelaide City Bike Art Trail is the result of collaboration between Council, Arts SA and the South Australian arts community.

The art was chosen by a panel made up of representatives from Arts SA, Adelaide City Council and the arts community.

It is co-funded through a matched financial investment of $100,000 from the Adelaide City Council’s City Activation Fund and the South Australian Government through Arts SA.
