V-STAR wins US media award

V-STAR wins US media award

V-STAR, the Office for Recreation and Sports' volunteer management tool for SA sport and recreation clubs, has won the highest recognition for website design by the US-based Interactive Media Awards.

The award was Best in Class for a non-profit organisation in 2013. According to IMA, Best in Class represents "the highest standards of professionalism, standards compliance and impeccable planning and execution". Websites in this category can be considered "one of the world's most well executed websites".

Special recognition was given to Riggs Digital for the site’s design and development, Louise Alderson and Kat Norris from the ORS for concept and content and Visual Symphony for its video production.

The runner-up category of Outstanding Achievement was given to 25 sites worldwide while only 19 were bestowed the highest honour of Best in Class in their respective categories.

The IMA Awards recognise individuals and organisations from across the globe involved in designing, developing, managing, supporting and promoting websites. Judges are distinguished professionals and members of the Interactive Media Council, Inc. (IMC), a non-profit organisation dedicated to elevating the standards of excellence on the Internet.

Judging is based on design, content, feature functionality, usability and Standards Compliance and Cross-Browser Compatibility.
