AUSPLAY results released today

Sport Australia has released the latest data and new insights from its national sport and physical activity participation survey, AusPlay.

The AusPlay Survey (AusPlay) is a large scale national population tracking survey funded and led by Sport Australia to help better understand the participation landscape and identify strategies to grow participation. Sport Australia has released the latest AusPlay results. This release covers data collected in the last financial year (July 2018 to June 2019) and includes:

A year-on-year comparison of selected measures across 3 financial years can be viewed in the new national data tables.

  • These visualisations aggregate AusPlay’s 75,000+ cumulative sample to date (October 2015 to June 2019).

In South Australia the results show:

ADULTS:

  • 91% of South  Australian adults participated in the previous 12 months
  • 85% participated at least weekly
  • 61% participated at least 3 times per week
  • 24% participated daily

And the top 3 motivators were health and fitness, fun and enjoyment, and social reasons.

CHILDREN:

  • 81% of South  Australian children participated in organised sport in the previous 12 months
  • 51% participated at least weekly
  • 24% participated at least 3 times per week
