Broadview courts better in blue

The balls are bouncing better… the footwork is more assured… and the players are pleased as punch!

At the Broadview Tennis Club, in Adelaide’s inner north, four courts have been resurfaced and ‘rebirthed’. No longer are they old and tired and potentially unsafe; now they’re smooth, levelled and with terrific traction.

The response from players and visitors has been overwhelmingly positive – not just regarding how the courts play, but also how they look (bright blue was a very popular choice!).

Club President Martin Richards says it’s a gratifying outcome for everyone, including the band of hardworking volunteers which initiated the project and made it all happen.

Altogether the club and its volunteers raised $27,000 to put towards the refurbishment. The Office for Recreation, Sport and Racing made up the shortfall with a $15,000 grant under Round 43 of the Active Club Program.

As Mr Richards notes, the club and the Office together have proved to be a very successful doubles combination: "A huge thanks goes out to the staff at ORSR for their support."
